Welcome to the “Notable News Weekly”, where we share the weekly email submitted to City Council and staff since its inception in 2022. This email highlights key accomplishments and updates from across all City departments, giving insight into the projects and programs shaping our community. While not an exhaustive list, it demonstrates the remarkable amount of work happening each week and fosters collaboration, efficiency, and teamwork among staff.

This Week's Notable News Highlights:
- Police Department- Over the past week, Impact Officers have made several arrests related to drug violations, trespassing, and outstanding warrants. Impact Officers also performed several proactive debris cleanups across the City. Although the jurisdiction of the California Highway Patrol and Caltrans, Impact Officers and our Homeless Outreach Team contacted several subjects along the 10-freeway corridor to officer assistance and remove debris. CalTrans conducted a major clean-up on August 12th, including graffiti abatement.
- Public Works- Foothill Blvd. Rehabilitation (Benson Ave. to Redding Way) The new 12" diameter water main segment between San Antonio and Redding Way is installed. Overnight on 8/11/26 the contractor tied over a 10" fire service and 6" domestic service in the vicinity of Upland High School. Overnight on 8/13/26 the contractor is scheduled to tie over the new 12" main to the existing 8" main at Redding Way. Median Island construction between San Antonio Avenue & Euclid Avenue is under construction. Engineering staff is working with the contractor to complete as much of the work as possible in front of Upland High School prior to school beginning on 8/24/26.
